Help students visualize Newton's first law and perform a variety of intriguing kinematic experiments and investigations with the Eisco® Linear Air Track. It comes out of the box almost fully assembled, is designed to level easily, has a nearly frictionless surface, and comes with a range of accessories. The quiet Eisco® Air Blower, which supports the air track, has an adjustable speed and operates at less than 60 dB (the sound level of a normal conversation) so it won't distract in the classroom.

Newton's first law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless an external force acts upon it. Now help your students visualize it with the 1.5-m Eisco® Linear Air Track. The air track achieves a nearly frictionless surface, enabling intriguing kinematic experiments and investigations. The system is almost fully assembled out of the box and designed to level easily prior to starting experiments.

Use the air track in such investigations as measuring:

  • Conservation of momentum with elastic and inelastic collisions
  • Average velocities and average acceleration
  • Impulse and change in momentum
  • Acceleration of a glider sliding down a raised inclined plane
  • Acceleration due a weight

Additional classic demonstrations include investigating simple harmonic motion (SHM) with a spring and studying potential and kinetic energy. Air track comes with a range of accessories, including Velcro® bumpers (for inelastic collisions), compression spring bumpers for reducing losses during collisions, an extension spring, masses (labeled), a variety of photogate blocking gates, and more. Photogates and timers are not included.
