Visual Scientifics Wave Demonstration

Grade 8-College. A fundamental qualitative understanding of waves is crucial for students before they begin to understand the quantitative mathematics. Apparatus is designed to guide students through understanding standing waves, nodes, tension, and speed. After working through this module, students will be able to answer questions such as:

• How does the amplitude of the pulse affect the speed of the pulse?
• How does the length of the spring affect the speed of the pulse?
• How does the tension in the spring affect the speed of the pulse?
• How does the spring's material affect the speed of the pulse?
