Seed that have been exposed to a Cobalt-60 source are used to demonstrate the effects of varying degrees of radiation. Squash preparations of root tips show distinct disturbances of the normal mitotic pattern. Somatic changes brought on by irradiation are often clearly visible a short time after germination begins. Each set contains an untreated control packet and packets of seed exposed to various levels of radiation (50; 150; 500; 4,000 Krads). At least 50 seeds per packet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I used these seeds for my high school biology project and the seeds worked well and grew quickly and supported the hypothesis. Perhaps the best pro would be that the package arrived much earlier than it was said to be shipped by, so I had plenty of time to grow the seeds and collect data for my paper. I would definitely recommend these seeds, and this company for great service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good overall 1) A few of the seed group results showed growth in groups that should not grow or vice versa: evidence that the seed packets may be mislabeled or that the seed contents were switched during the packaging process. These results can bring up an opportunity to question students about the cause of such results. 2) In the past, I have advocated adding a few seed groups between the middle dose (500 krads) and the extreme dose of 4000 krads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable performer The seeds arrived on time and germinated within 24 hours, by 48 hours students had clearly distinguishable and reliable results which showed a clear LD-50 and ED-50 result. Great for environmental science, toxicology, or radiation lessons.
