In this Science Buddies science project, you'll see if yeast will reproduce using various sugar substitutes. You can customize this kit to include the yeast, graduated cylinder, thermometer, and other supplies needed to complete this experiment.

There's nothing quite like the smell of fresh-baked bread to make your mouth water! As any baker can tell you, you can't bake bread without yeast. This project makes clever use of bread dough to measure yeast reproduction three different ways, and investigates how well yeast grow with sugar substitutes as a food source. Pass the butter, please!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Measurement starts at 25ml??? I wish that I had looked closely at the picture before purchase. The measurements start at 25 ml and not at 0 ml. This is purchase was unfortunate because I may need to collect data below 25 ml. I called customer service and they had to speak with a product manager to ask about cylinders that could start at 0. She was told that there are none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear and Easy to View The cylinders have clear numbering and the yellow background helps visually. The base is a good size to prevent tipping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Portable The base is detached. I bundled 12 cylinders with a rubber band, stacked the bases and transported in a box without worry. Suitable for science fair experiment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for students! This thermometer is perfect for my Physical Science class. It's easy to use, has enough range that we can actually measure hot and cold successfully and is big enough to see easily, but not so big that it can't be handled well. I'm very pleased with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value At only $3, this thermometer does the job perfectly! I used it for a chemistry class to the labs, and it was really remarkable. It had no problem switching from hot temperature water to cold temperature water as others have experienced. Also, what I like about this thermometer is the amount of degrees allowed - usually thermometers go up to 120 degrees F, but this one goes up to 230! I also like the fact that it has both Fahrenheit and Celsius markings.
