Genetics of Plants Kit

Grade 12. Designed as an alternative to traditional AP® Biology Lab 7. With activities and principles based on the Genetics of Drosophila Kit (item #746530), this kit uses Wisconsin Fast Plants® materials to help students explore Mendelian genetics and such concepts as segregation, independent assortment, inheritance of unit characters, and dominance. Students grow and pollinate F₁ hybrid plants to produce F₂ progeny, segregating for 1 or 2 mutant traits. Extensions include the study of maternal inheritance. Experiment time is 55 to 100 days. Kit provides materials for a class of 32 students, plus teacher instructions and reproducible student sheets.
