The 10 hands-on investigations in the Carolina™ Science Distance Learning: Principles of Biology Kit contain 25 common activities. These investigations were carefully selected after Carolina analyzed dozens of course syllabi from community colleges and major universities. We chose topics and laboratory investigations taught in a majority of these programs, to give students in your online biology laboratory course a meaningful science lab experience, and the same experience as countless other college biology students.
Each investigation was also rewritten to account for the special requirements of performing labs in a home setting. Additional testing was conducted in non-laboratory settings to ensure students can obtain consistent, reliable results without using expensive laboratory equipment and supplies. Safety and disposal issues were also addressed in each investigation.
