In this Science Buddies science project, you’ll test the effects of liquid fertilizer on an aquatic environment containing small aquatic animals and plants. You can customize this kit to include the pH paper, pond snails, duckweed, and other supplies needed to complete this experiment.

Did you know that when you use fertilizer in your garden, it can eventually reach a lake, stream, or pond? There are many different chemicals present in fertilizers. How will they affect the aquatic organisms in the ecosystem? In this science project you will get to find out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from never disappointed The daphnia always come to me very feisty and practically all of them are alive. I can tell that Carolina Supply is very mindful of the needs of this organism.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can I get help? The Daphina was of good use to my experiment but the package came with a another package with I have no idea what was in it, little brown things were in it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ok Product arrived on time for the start of the experiment however the number of mature Daphnia were limited (we purchased 4 containers hoping to have a total of 120 Daphnia to use 3 in each of our containers). We ended up only using 30, selecting only the larger specimens from the jars to be consistent throughout the experiment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked for my needs, however... I really appreciate the instructional sheets that Carolina provides to accompany their products. However, the plants that I received were mostly brown and black upon arrival. We had enough green leaves for the lab that we conducted, but many of the stems were unusable. Before I ordered, I asked a customer service representative how much I should order, and they recommended 2 packages. If I had not ordered that amount, we would not have had enough usable leaves. On the other hand, had all of the plants been healthy upon arrival, 2 packages would have been far more than what I needed. (Thus, I gave a lower score of value for money.) This is the first time I have been disappointed in an order from Carolina, and hopefully it is an outlier for their great customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to work with and handle. We purchased the Daphnia magna for my son's science experiment. He was testing different chemicals on the heart rate of these animals. Not only did his experiment work, but the Daphnia were easy to work with. They arrived and with a few steps setup, we have a flourishing colony. They need little fussing over and even after testing remained alive. They were a bit pricey, but overall we had success with these animals.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Arrived alive and well We use this product to in water quality labs. Daphnia from Carolina typically arrives healthy with plenty of adults to live for over a week (7-10 days is our typical experience). Shipping on this product is generally outrageous, being at least half the cost of the product itself but this is the most cost effective way our small school has found currently to have Daphnia for our labs.
