Rated 1 out of 5 by from Volvox aureus; dead or abducted by aliens. When this sample arrived (taken straight from the hands of the mail carrier), I couldn't find any evidence of Volvox under any magnification....100X, 200X, 400X. No zygotes, no vegetative cells, no colonies...nothing. I teach phycology at the Univ. of Az. and was hoping to have these to discuss volvocine algae. Apparently, that's not gonna happen. I took photomicrographs, of basically clear water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to find and view. I always have good luck with my 5th grade students viewing these organisms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Abundant and Healthy! Volvox arrived and were abundant and healthy. Despite warning that organisms would degrade quickly, two weeks later ours are thriving.
