Description

Grades 11-12. Students collect and analyze data of readily observable genetic traits. They determine the phenotype, genotype, and frequency of various human traits and identify dominant and recessive genes for each. Using sample population data, they apply the Hardy-Weinberg principle to calculate the allele frequency of a trait's gene. Includes coverage of natural selection, the Hardy-Weinberg equation, and other related topics. Available for single user or network.

Grades 11-12. A Carolina Exclusive! Now your students can realistically perform actual AP* Lab investigations on-screen and then view, record, and analyze their results! The Carolina® Neo/LAB® CD-ROM Series for Classic AP Biology Labs allows students to perform labs from the classic Advanced Placement* Biology Lab Program. This series helps novice and expert teachers alike to implement a successful lab program and meet the objectives of the AP Biology Lab Program. Minimum system requirements: Windows® 2000 or higher; Macintosh® OS 9.2 or higher; 128 MB RAM.

The Carolina® CD-ROM Series for Classic AP Biology Labs can be used to:

  • Prepare your students prior to performing the actual hands-on labs
  • Serve as a guide or reference while they conduct hands-on experiments
  • Learn more about the concepts associated with each lab using the built-in tutorials

In Population Genetics and Evolution, students collect and analyze data of readily observable genetic traits. They determine the phenotype, genotype, and frequency of various human traits and identify dominant and recessive genes for each. Using sample population data, they apply the Hardy-Weinberg principle to calculate the allele frequency of a trait's gene and compare the estimate with their sample results. Includes coverage of natural selection, the Hardy-Weinberg equation, and other related topics. Available for single user or network.
