Use dramatic demonstrations to introduce or to review factors affecting reaction rates. Students observe the catalyzed combustion of sugar and the classic Blue Bottle and Traffic Light demos. They then analyze data from the demos to show their grasp of how several factors affect reaction rates. Particle level explanations and assessment questions help students prepare for the AP® Chemistry Exam. Materials are sufficient to perform the 3 demos twice.

Introduce or review the factors affecting reaction rates in preparation for the AP® Chemistry Exam. Also suitable for general chemistry or freshman chemistry, this kit includes 3 demonstrations:

• The Blue Bottle - Illustrates the effect changing temperature has on the rate of reaction.
• The Traffic Light - Changing concentration has a dramatic effect on the reaction rate.
• Sugar Combustion - Shows the effect of a catalyst on the speed of reaction.
