Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is elodea susceptible to bacteria or fungal spore Plants arrived very healthy. I placed them in a large 2 gallon glass bowl and put them under a grow light. They carried out photosynthesis with lots of little bubbles forming on their leaves. Very pleased! Within a week, there were no bubbles and the plant texture was very slimy. Within another week they were disintegrating into mush. My room has been tested for mold spores and will get results soon. I did a bacterial test kit on the slime on the surface of the water that came back positive for two types of bacteria. My classroom aquarium is full of orange bacteria or fungi. This may seem rhetorical in light of classroom issues but is it possible something in the air infected the plants? I will need to buy more plants and want to keep them alive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ive seen better from Carolina I'm not sure what is up but I have bought elodea from Carolina in the past with no problems. I bough this for a demonstration of cytoplasmic streaming. The plants were covered with so much algae that it was hard to find leaves that were unobstructed for viewing the streaming. I'm ordering another batch soon, and I'm hoping it will be better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing The stems were a brownish green, no new growth evident and about 50% of the leaves on the stems were dead and decaying. As a teacher, I've made many purchases from Carolina over the years. This was the first time I've been dissapointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from All brown and Died This Elodea arrived half brown. I tried to salvage it and picked out the brown parts, but they all died and ruined our experiment. I am very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 90% DEAD This did not look like what is in the photo! It was mostly dead & I had to pick out 5 branches that were living.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good enough Most of it stays alive, but could be better - several of the plants died within the first few weeks of use. Order more than you need.
