This culture is Gram–, motile rods; stable red pigment; suitable for UV light experiments. The D1 strain displays the most intense pigment of all of Carolina's S. marcescens cultures. It is cultured on nutrient broth at 25° C in a tube. Each culture contains enough material for a class of 30 students. Cultures are guaranteed as to species and purity. Note: Tubes with liquid cultures contain about 5 mL of liquid bacteria.
