Grades 912. Students explore the processes of osmosis and diffusion using a semipermeable model of the cell membrane. They examine how concentration, molecular size, surface area, and volume relationships affect these processes. Students further their learning by determining the concentration of unknown salt solution. Materials are sufficient for 10 groups.
Grades 912. Students explore the processes of osmosis and diffusion using a semipermeable model of the cell membrane. They examine how concentration, molecular size, surface area, and volume relationships affect these processes. Students will learn to differentiate between hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic solution and further their learning by determining the concentration of unknown salt solution. Focuses on the NGSS crosscutting concepts of Stability and Change, and Scale, Proportion, and Quantity. Materials are sufficient for 10 groups.
