Perfect for CTE agriculture or veterinary science courses, the Recessive White Chicken DNA Test is an in-house DNA test to determine the number of copies of the recessive white allele in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus). Sample collection is easyDNA is extracted from blood (e.g., ex-ovo blood draw). Result interpretation is clear: 1 lower band indicates the presence of 2 copies of the recessive white allele (C*C/C*C); 2 bands indicate the presence of only 1 copy of the recessive white allele (C*C/C*N); and the presence of only the upper band indicates the absence of the recessive white allele (C*N/C*N). Therefore, this test can determine whether a chicken is heterozygous or homozygous for the recessive white allele.
