Using sperm released from 12- to 18-day-old C-FERN® gametophytes, students test the ability of sperm to detect and swim to a chemical signal. Requires use of a stereomicroscope at 12x or higher with transmitted (bottom) illumination.

Cultures and culture materials are not included in this kit. The wild type or F1 polka dot stock of spores is recommended. Experiment time is 1/2 to 1 hour, not including culture time.
