IntermediateEasy to perform; requires some background knowledge.
Simulate the use of DNA in forensic investigations with this kit that has students electrophorese DNA samples from a fictional crime scene and 2 suspects. The DNA samples simulate the results of polymerase chain reaction, providing opportunities to teach and reinforce that concept. Upon completing the electrophoresis, students use their simulated DNA fingerprint to determine which suspect (if either) is the guilty party.
