Description

Grade 11–College. Explore the basic components of circuits instrumental to all of today's electronic technology. Experiment with diodes and transistors to build and analyze circuits that teach the fundamentals of modern circuit design. Lab activities also will require components from the Carolina™ Electronics System 2 Physics Kit (item #751164), plus additional needed-but-not-supplied items. Includes instructions. Suitable for 1 group of students.

Grade 11–College. The Carolina® Electronics System 1 Kit comes with 18 components, including a circuit board and all the diodes and transistors needed to investigate core concepts in introductory semiconductor electronics. Kit has enough material for 1 group of 2 to 4 students to perform the activities. Kit components come in a metal ballistics case with high-density foam inserts for easy storage and long life. Several of the parts needed but not included in this kit may be found in the Carolina® Electricity System 1 Physics Kit (item #751167, purchased separately) and the Carolina® Electronics System 2 Physics Kit (item #751164, purchased separately).

With this kit students can explore common experiments such as The Half-Wave Rectifier, Measuring Gain with a Power Transistor, The Infrared Diode and Phototransistor, and The Unijunction Transistor. The included experiment guide covers 12 activities:

  • The Forward Bias Diode
  • The Half-Wave Rectifier
  • The Zener Diode
  • The Transistor as a Switch
  • Measuring Gain with a PNP Power Transistor
  • The Infrared Diode and Phototransistor
  • The Light Dependent Resistor
  • Temperature Dependent Resistors
  • The Silicon Controlled Rectifier
  • The TRIAC
  • The Unijunction Transistor
