Place 1 or 2 drops of a sample on the prism and read the percentage of salinity in the sample!
This refractometer is powered only by ambient light; no other power source is necessary. It features automatic temperature compensation, which makes manual temperature corrections unnecessary. Other features include a double scale, salinity in parts per thousand, and specific gravity. It measures salt content in seawater, breeding ponds, or pickling brines and other applications. While the scale is calibrated for sodium chloride, it can also be used for calcium chloride, barium cobalt, magnesium, cesium, potassium, cupric sulfate, potassium iodide, citric acid, acetic acid, and vinegar when tested against a known standard.
The refractometer comes complete with:
- A rubber-coated hand grip and rubber construction, which insulate the test solution from inaccuracies by the user's body heat
- A covered eyepiece and bright, clearly defined scale, with large, easy-to-read measurements
- All accessories needed for immediate use, including calibration tools and solutions, complete instructions, transfer pipettes, and a protective case
