Open your students' eyes to the genetic basis of inheritance with this simple lab. The kit investigations clearly demonstrate the induced uptake of a jellyfish gene by E. coli. Students observe the phenotypic effect of adding the gene for GFP (green fluorescent protein). GFP is expressed on plain LBno color development substrate or induction reagent is needed. Students can easily view the "green" effects in normal classroom lighting. Materials are sufficient for 1 teacher demonstration.
