Description

Microscope slide of human adipose tissue, stained with hematoxylin and eosin to show the general structure of fat cells.

Human Adipose Tissue Slide, 7 µm, H&E. Adipose tissue is a loose connective tissue that functions in energy storage and insulation. Give students an up-close look at human fat cells, or adipocytes. These adipocytes are filled with stored lipids, shown on the slide as the white space within the cells. The small stained section outlining the cell is the cell membrane. Darker nuclei can also be identified. Stained with hematoxylin and eosin.
