Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable skeleton stand We bought this skeleton stand as a replacement for one that came with a very expensive skeleton purchased from another company. The hanging skeleton gets heavy use in an academic health sciences library. When it was mounted on the previous stand, it fell over frequently, sometimes shattering the skull. We were getting tired of gluing the skull back together, so we investigated other stands. This stand is very stable. The heavy metal base lowers the center of gravity, making it much less tippy. Having the bend in the top piece of the stand keeps the head and the hips aligned. It's still a little awkward rolling the skeleton around, but I doubt that any stand could prevent the swaying motion of the bones. The vertical support does bend a little bit relative to the base, but it may be that I didn't tighten the screws enough. My assembly partner was afraid that we would strip the threads if we tightened it more. But, it doesn't seem to make a difference in the overall stability. So I'm happy.
