Description

A Carolina Exclusive! Grades 9-12. Students explore the properties of chemical bonds. They analyze the results of their investigations and compare the Lewis structure of each type of bond. Then they learn the basic properties of ionic and covalent bonds. They use this knowledge to design and conduct their own experiment to determine the type of bonds present in 2 unknown substances. Part of the Inquiries in Science® series. Materials are sufficient for 30 students working in groups of 3.

  • Investigate the properties of ionic and covalent chemical bonds
  • Represent ionic and covalent bonds using Lewis structures
  • Develop skills in designing and conducting experiments
