Description

Students explore the concept of the mole and test Boyle's, Charles's, and the ideal gas laws. Using a capillary tube and syringe they create unique miniature gas compartments to explore the effects of temperature and pressure on a gas. As a final activity, students use their knowledge of the gas laws to design an experiment that demonstrates the relationships among temperature, pressure, volume, and moles. Kit includes enough materials for at least 30 students working in groups.

  • Use real-world comparisons to understand the mole as a unit of measure
  • Create unique microscale apparatus to investigate gas laws
  • Graph data to analyze relationships
