Generally, the brown hydra species shipped is Hydra littoralis. Specimens are freshly collected to ensure maximum natural size and optimum physiological condition. We try to include several animals with 1 or more buds. Use item #142314 Daphnia as food and to demonstrate the feeding action of hydra. When brown hydra are scarce, green hydra may be substituted. One culture for a class of 30 students.
