Grade 11College. Covers the shape and direction of magnetic fields and the relationship between electricity and magnetism. Students change currents to induce magnetism and discover the right hand rule; learn how dia-, para-, and ferromagnetic substances behave in magnetic fields; explore magnetic fields when a coil or loop provides an induced field; and more. Some activities require Carolina® Magnetics System 1 Physics Kit (item #751165). Includes instructions. For 1 group of students.
Grade 11College. The Carolina® Magnetics System 2 Physics Kit, which supplements the Carolina® Magnetics System 1 Physics Kit (item #751165), comes with 17 components, including all the magnetic bars and coils needed to investigate core concepts in introductory magnetism. Kit has enough material for 1 group of 2 to 4 students to perform the activities. Note: The Carolina® Magnetics System 1 Physics Kit (item #751165, purchased separately), is required for some activities. Kit components come in a metal ballistics case with high-density foam inserts for easy storage and long life.
With this kit students can explore common experiments such as Exploring The Differences Between Diamagnetic, Paramagnetic, and Ferromagnetic Substances; Magnetic Field Lines; and Induced Current from a Magnetic Field. The included experiment guide covers 4 activities:
