Product Details
This kit includes a set of preserved mammalian organs for dissection as well as a set of histology microscope slides. Students observe the anatomical structures and investigate the physiological links between organ systems as they study a preserved cow eye, pig kidney, pig heart, and sheep brain. Through observation of the accompanying microscope slides, they gain an understanding of the tissue types and microstructure of each organ. Students investigate the specific functions of each organ and how they operate to maintain homeostasis. This kit allows teachers the option to perform the dissections as class demonstrations or have student groups dissect the organs in separate stations.
All specimens are preserved and shipped in safe, nontoxic Carolina's Perfect Solution®.
This kit also includes a teacher's manual with reproducible student guide. The student guide contains background information and assessment questions, as well as dissection guides, labeled diagrams, and a glossary for each specimen.
