Grades 9–12. In this guided-inquiry experiment, students determine the antimicrobial properties of a nanoscale silver solution and study the benefits, limitations, and environmental impacts of nanotechnology products. Students inoculate sterile media with bacteria, tabulate their data, and graph their results while studying the effectiveness of their nanoscale silver solution on the growth of E. coli.

This kit is an excellent introduction to nanoscale technology and technique. Materials are sufficient for 30 students working groups of 3.
