Product Details
The Go Direct® Structures & Materials Tester is an excellent tool for teaching engineering concepts and design processes. Students evaluate truss, bridge, or other structure strength by measuring the applied load and deflection, then graphing the resulting data in real time. Students can more easily apply the redesign phase of the engineering design process, as the tester will cause the weakest element of a structure to fail, leaving the remaining elements intact.

Investigate Structures
The Go Direct® Structures & Materials Tester comes with a tackle kit of accessories (including a 50 x 50 x 6-mm and a 50 x 80 x 6-mm aluminum load plates, chain, rods, and U-bolts) so students can quickly and easily load bridges, materials, beams, and structures of varying sizes and shapes. The tester also comes with the NGSS-aligned Materials Testing: Beams to Bridges with Go Direct® Structures & Materials Tester e-book. Students complete these engaging activities to investigate various materials and structures. Topics include beams, trusses, determining modulus of elasticity, and bridges. Use Competition for Motivation
Boost student motivation and learning with bridge-building competitions. The Go Direct® Bridge Competition Software (downloaded for free from the Vernier website) provides immediate, side-by-side comparisons of structure strength for your entire class. The software provides real-time graphing, giving students immediate feedback on bridge performance.
