Explore simple machines, levers, work, and mechanical advantage with hands-on activities. Using paint stirrers, students build their own catapult and launch cork projectiles. During this design challenge students are encouraged to brainstorm ways to modify the catapult in order to increase accuracy, height, or distance. Materials support a single student or a small group of students. Includes instructions.
