The temperature-sensitive properties of the liquid crystal material allow students to observe temperature gradients as colors and color patterns.

Using different liquid crystal formulations, students explore regional variations in peripheral blood flow, test the influence of gravity on blood circulation, and observe vascular responses to heating and cooling.

Materials are sufficient for 6 groups of 4 to 6 students working in pairs or teams. Detailed teacher's manual with reproducible student guide included.
