Students first observe how traits of kernel color and nutrient composition pass from 1 generation to the next. Then they construct an hypothesis describing the mode of inheritance for each trait. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A yearly favorite Believe it or not, every year my students love this lab. What I like about it most of all is the application of dihybrid crosses. Every year a few students don't get the concept of dihybrid crosses. After doing this lab it clicks in, and they begin to make sense of the application of genetics. One beware: Leave the cellophane wrapping on the corn. I didn't read the teacher guide and took off the cellophane wrap - needless to say the corn kernels started falling off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product! This is a very useful product -- the corn provided a basis for a good lab on dihybrid crosses. I used the kit with an advanced Biology class, it was easy to use, and the students learned a lot from the hands-on experience.
