Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful tool for beginner dissectors! I have purchased lubber grasshoppers from Carolina in the past and continue to be impressed with the quality. I think the 100 count is a great deal! Lubber grasshoppers are a great specimen for beginning dissectors. My students dissect them with great ease and much inquiry. Thanks so much!

It was easy to find the larger parts but like most dissection specimens, it was difficult to distinguish some of the parts since most of it was the same color. After finding some instructions else where, we were able to find out what we were looking at.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use for entomology dissection for Science Olympiad event We ordered these specimens for student to have a hands on experience with an insects anatomy. The students did not experience any difficulties or set backs with these specimens. I would recommend these to be used in a classroom setting or as an extra incentive. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating, is that I had to supplement the dissection with materials for my students to use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lubbers used to be better! The preserved lubbers are relatively inexpensive for a bucket of 100, but they used to be better 5-6 years ago, when they were tan/yellowish in color (likely adult stage). The last few years, the shipments have been of black specimens, which are much more difficult to use to see structures in morphology labs. Also, the internal organs of these specimens may be of poorer quality, depending on the shipment. Finally, the pail I opened last month had 97 males and only a couple of females. Disappointing!
