A 1-year license to an engaging alternative to hands-on dissection that allows students to study the anatomy of 4 different invertebrate specimens: squid, earthworm, crayfish, and sea star. Each invertebrate is studied separately. Students explore the external anatomy and then dissect the internal anatomy. During the dissection, students remove organs and their functions are displayed. A photo and/or video may also be available of the structure at the time of removal. Students are then quizzed on what they have learned; they are asked to replace the organs based on their name or function. A test follows each specimen. As students review the anatomical structures and their functions in each dissection, you can easily track student progress through the Teacher Dashboard. Assessment questions about each specimen are also available in editable PDF format for you to e-mail or print for your students.

While virtual dissection software is a great alternative to hands-on dissection, it is also an engaging supplemental activity that can be used for preparation and assessment. As a pre-lab activity, students are exposed to the anatomical structures they will encounter during the hands-on dissections of these invertebrates, minimizing student questions and lab time. After the lab, the software can be used as an assessment tool to review structure name, placement, and function.

In addition to the dissection, a virtual lab exercise is included. In the lab, students explore the effects of different drugs on the heart rate of Daphnia. Data sheets and assessment questions for the lab are available in editable PDF format. This is also a great supplemental activity after hands-on dissection!

As a bonus, eMind Animalcules software is included with your purchase for FREE. This digital microscope includes 24 commonly used slides from each of the 5 kingdoms: Eubacteria, Protista, Plantae, Fungi, and Animalia. Students can switch between low, medium, and high power as they watch many of the specimens move across the field of view.

This interactive, Web-based software works on all devices (computers, tablets, smartphones, etc.), allowing easy access for you and your students. Narration is also available on eMind software.

Choose from a site license or a classroom license for up to 32 users. Classroom and site licenses can be used for off-campus, remote learning. For both license types, students must be enrolled at one physical location. For schools with multiple physical locations (multiple campuses), a site license must be purchased for each physical location (campus). License duration is 12 months from the date of purchase.
