In this Science Buddies science fair project, you will compare two nitrogen delivery systems for plants. You can customize this kit to include the clover seeds, Rhizobium inoculum, soil test kit, and other supplies needed to complete this experiment.

In this experiment, you will grow clover plants in soil with no nitrogen added, in soil with nitrogen fertilizer added, and in soil containing nitrogen-fixing bacteria (in this case, a species of rhizobia called Rhizobium legominosarium, or R. legominosarium). You will monitor the nitrogen levels in each type of soil using a nitrogen testing kit. You will observe the effects of nitrogen on the health of the clover plants by measuring the increase in biomass of each plant during the experiment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I used this kit with students in an AP Environmental Science class as well as younger students in an urban agriculture class, and found that the test kit worked well for both groups.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but needs more tubes and self-help instructions. It would have made my soil testing a lot easier if the kit came with more tubes. Also, I could have used a little more description for the potassium identification. The pictorial guide was helpful, but I could of used a little more help -- assurance as to whether I was reading it properly, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done! This light gives my class a very simple way to light individual plants and doesn't take up much room at all. You can't beat it for the price. If I had a larger area in the classroom, I would have used their plant lighting system - but this one works perfectly! It's easy to store too, when not needed.
