Grades 9–12. Students explore the law of conservation of mass through 5 separate chemical reactions. For each reaction, students mass the reactants and products and cite evidence of a chemical change, such as evolution of a gas, formation of a precipitate, or change in color. They determine whether mass is conserved and account for any changes in mass.
