Description

Brassica rapa. F1 Non-Purple Stem, Yellow-Green Leaf is a Fast Plants® stock that is heterozygous for 2 genes, produced from a controlled dihybrid cross between Non-Purple Stem, Dark-Green Leaf (items #158812 and #158813) and Purple Stem, Yellow-Green Leaf parents (items #158810 and #158811) (anl/anl, YGR/YGR x ANL/ANL, ygr/ygr). In this F1 (first) generation population, only the dominant phenotypes are expressed, so all have purple stems and dark-green leaves. Pack of 50 seeds.

Product Details
Brassica rapa. A genetic time-saver! Don't have time to carry a cross from the parental generation? We've got you covered with both F1 and F2 generations of Wisconsin Fast Plants® seed.

The F1 generation seed (items #158880 and #158881) will express dominant traits (purple stems, dark-green leaves, standard height) and can be used to produce F2 seed that will show the typical monohybrid (3:1) or dihybrid (9:3:3:1) phenotypic ratios. F2 seed (item #158886) will express the appropriate phenotypic ratios. The result: more genetic concepts learned in less time.

F1 Non-Purple Stem, Yellow-Green Leaf phenotype: purple stems and dark green leaves; genotype: anl/ANL, YGR/ygr. Pack of 50 seeds.

Note: There may be occasional plants in this seed stock that have non-purple stems due to mutation or rare crossbreeding between sibling plants. Should this occur, remove any non-purple seedlings when they are most noticeable at 5–7 days old.
