Description

Grades 4–12. Enable students to construct many robotic projects while coding in Snap!, BirdBlox, MakeCode, Python™, or Java™ with the Hummingbird™ Bit Premium Kit. Students can explore dozens of projects, such as automating an amusement park, modeling human joints, building a robotics petting zoo, and more! Kit includes multiple sensors, LEDs, servos, servo wheels, Hummingbird™ Bit microcontroller, and the Premium Kit case.

Grades 4–12. The Hummingbird™ Bit Premium Kit enables up to 3 students to construct many robotic projects while coding in 5 different programming languages. Students can explore dozens of projects, such as automating an amusement park, modeling human joints, building a robotics petting zoo, and more! Each kit includes multiple sensors (light, distance, sound, rotary, etc.); LEDs; servos (rotation, position); servo wheels; Hummingbird™ Bit microcontroller; and the Premium Kit case. The hardware was designed and validated through National Science Foundation-funded research at Carnegie Mellon University.

This kit is designed to grow with students, starting with the basics and offering increasingly sophisticated projects and programming languages as students' skills improve. Projects span from elementary to high school level, enabling students to create beautiful electronic art, intricate cardboard mechatronics, and scientific models, or to design cleverly programmed robots. The kit allows students to use block- or text-based languages (including Snap!, BirdBlox, MakeCode, Python™, and Java™) to learn coding. Programming tutorials are also available, making this an excellent kit for courses in robotics, programming, and mechatronics, or for robotics clubs and makerspaces. Windows®, Macintosh®, Linux® (Ubuntu®), Chrome™, and Raspberry Pi® are supported, depending on programming language. BirdBlox also supports iOS®, Amazon® Kindle®, and Android®.

Note: Requires the Micro:bit Microcontroller (item #759102, sold separately), which can be used for many additional programming and sensing projects as well. For age 9+; adult supervision recommended for age 13 and under.
