Mitosis

Mitosis is a type of nuclear cell division that occurs in somatic (non-reproductive) cells. At the end of mitosis, the new daughter cells contain the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell. Mitosis enables cellular growth and repair in multicellular organisms. There are differences in cell division between plants and animals. DNA and Mitosis

DNA is the blueprint of life and drives the replication of Mitosis. DNA is replicated and packaged many times over until they resemble the structures we know as chromosomes. When it comes time for the cell to divide, the two copies of DNA in the form of chromosomes are separated to create two daughter cells.
